After Heath, now what?

After George Clooney's nipple suit, I figured the Batman series was as good as gone.
But then came Christopher Nolan's fantastic edgy film noir rendition that the series needed. And like they say, the rest is history.

Despite the onslaught of reviews, I refused to even cast my eyes on a single word, lest my expectations be affected. And after last night, I wanna go back and watch it again.

As the credits rolled, my first thought was it's a pity that Heath died because I would have loved him to reprise his role. Now don't get me wrong, the entire cast pulled their weight and made the film a roaring success. But what truly made the film great was Heath's performance as the Joker.

Perhaps the most maniacal character I've ever seen in my lifetime, the Joker was volatile and downright believable. It wasn't a case of oh Heath is doing a fantastic job but rather man this Joker guy is badass.

So now what? Who will be the villain in the final chapter of the trilogy? Who can even possibly come close to matching Heath for the performance that ultimately took his life?

Man-Bat? Cat Woman? Or how about characters that died along with their portrayal in previous Batman movies? Mr Freeze, Poison Ivy and The Riddler.

Imagine:
John Malkovich as Mr Freeze.
Angelina Jolie as Poison Ivy.
Edward Norton as The Riddler.

It might not top Heath's Joker but surely it would come potentially close.
