yesterday we heard news of rescuers savings a woman who was stuck under rubble for five days in the sichuan province.
and obviously on the burmese side, foreign aid is still not reaching people who need it.

However, the Burmese prime minister said the priority had now shifted from emergency relief to reconstruction - as at Rangoon's Shwedagon pagoda, which was damaged in the storm.
i'm not sure what to make of this. is this the genuine focus of the burmese government? or is it just a facet of the western smear campaign against burma?
frankly, if it were true, then the burmese people will live in dark times for the near future. the fall-out from katrina may even pale in comparison to what the people in irrawaddy are experiencing, and will suffer for the foreseeable future.
