Now I understand.
I understand why they say once you make your own pasta, it's hard to go back.
The process of creating something that you often take for granted in the form of a $2.25 pack on a supermarket shelf somehow instills a sense of beauty. The product may not be as uniform as you would expect but somehow the imperfections evoke a sense of happiness, happiness that perhaps can only be understood by others who have done the same.
And when the final product (lasagna in this instance) comes out, you marvel not at the product itself but rather the details that you always left out somehow. The sum of its parts are perhaps larger than the product itself.
I think I finally understand what the fuss was all about.
