Exam stress

When all the exam stress gets to you, what do you do?

Bet on the upcoming Euro 2008 of course!

Call me naive, ignorant, stupid...whatever. But I've plonked 5 bets of $10 on teams with the highest odds for winning the trophy.

So that would be:
Poland 71-1
Romania 41-1
Turkey 61-1
Austria 101-1
Sweden 51-1

Yes, I've been somewhat duped or conned. But hey, Greece won Euro 2004. What were the odds? 100-1? And ever since that day, I've come to regret not placing a simple $10 down for Greece and have always considered myself $1000 poorer.

So I'm planning to make up for it. With 5 teams, I'm definitely not selling myself short.

But interestingly, Sweden is up there. Which really surprises me.
Because frankly, Sweden has been and always will be the dark horse for every single tournament. Not England nor Spain, those two are just your perennial underachievers. Or serial quarter-finalists.

Sweden on the other hand, boast a strong starting eleven and not much else. But on their day, they can outplay and outclass any other team in the world.

Come on, a leading CK underwear model with a big gun marauding the right flank?
An intense brooding figure who might just turn up to play upfront?
A solid experienced custodian at the back?
Awesome stopper who scores crucial goals?

Now THAT sounds like a winning formula to me.

But in all honesty, I'm hoping that Austria wins the damn thing.
Frankly, even locals find it hard to believe.
